Finance Officer

 

The Vanuatu Meteorological and Geo-hazard Department (VGMD) and National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) have secured funding from the World Bank for two large-scale national adaptation and disaster risk reduction projects designed to address Vanuatu’s immediate climate change adaptation needs and mitigate natural disaster risks.

The Finance Officer will work with the PMU/VMGD in the implementation of these two projects with the respective implementing agencies. The Finance Officer will be contracted to ensure that appropriate, time and cost effective Finance management and reporting are met during the course of the projects, and to build capacity of the PMU for financial management in accordance with the Government requirements. The Finance Officer, acting in accordance with agreed Projects budgets and guidelines, will be responsible for the day-to-day activities relating to all Finance and Accounts under IRCCNH and MDRR.

The Finance Officer will be contracted for 1 year renewable, and be based in the VMGD Project Management Unit.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate in Accounting or Financial Administration/Management and/or any other relevant field, from a recognized institute or university
  • Excellent writing skills, and ability to prepare clear, concise reports and presentations to a broad range of audiences,
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills,
  • Competent in the use of computer applications, and at a minimum, Excel and MS Word, and
  • Fluent in spoken and written English and Bislama, with French an advantage.
