3 x Short Term Contractors: Agrometeorology Experts (Agriculture, Livestock & Forestry)

SHORT TERM CONTRACTORS:  AGROMETEOROLOGY EXPERTS (FORESTRY, LIVESTOCK & AGRICULTURE)

 

The Contractors will provide technical support for the collection of data on agricultural sector adaptation practices in Vanuatu. They will prepare draft materials and activity guides for climate adaptation techniques in agriculture, livestock and forestry, and present to extension officers at the Calibration Workshop for Collecting Data on Agricultural Sector Adaptation Practices on Tanna in 2013.

 

The consultants will be responsible for the following tasks:

 

  1. Prepare draft materials and activity guides for at least 3 climate adaptation techniques each in the sectors of agriculture, livestock and forestry
  2. Present these draft materials and activity guides to extension officers and answer technical questions
  3. Deliver a final report outlining the challenges and lessons learned during the calibration workshop.

 

Criteria:  A university degree in a field directly relevant to agriculture, livestock or forestry, or equivalent experience pertinent to the envisaged assignment; a minimum of seven years relevant professional experience, including proven experience with developing and training in climate adaptation strategies for livestock, agriculture and forestry; word processing skills; and proficiency in English and Bislama or French.

 

Remuneration:  International daily rate plus travel costs

 

Duration:  3 days each, excluding preparation and reporting, in early 2013

 

Engagement is subject to final approval of EU-GCCA funding, but must be finalised by 30 November 2012.
