SimCLIM-for-ArcGIS/Climate

We are very happy to announce the release of SimCLIM-for-ArcGIS/Climate. CLIMsystems in collaboration with Esri (Redlands California) and Eagle Technology (New Zealand) have produced a world class climate modeling add-in that runs within ArcGIS Desktop. The new tool can be trialed and different study areas can be purchased for a wide range of regions (national and state) and at various resolutions. Climate models for precipitation, temperature and sea surface temperature can now be rapidly produced and combined with other Esri mapped images thus adding a climate dimension to many mapping projects. For those of you that are already running SimCLIM your SimCLIM patterns can be used in this new tool. Your account with CLIMsystems will also apply for registration of the trial and purchase of this piece of software. We are extremely excited by the extra functionality ArcGIS offers for working with climate scenarios. Pick up a trial and pass on the news.  http://www.climsystems.com/simclimarcgis/

We continue to process the massive data sets that comprise AR5. We can now apply 38 AR5 GCMs and 24 AR5 sea level rise patterns (in house). The processing has been fascinating and we will very soon release more widely a series of maps comparing AR4 with AR5 outputs. From preliminary analysis we can see for most of the Earth there is little difference between the two but for some areas like Australia the models show some important changes - even drier! We are now looking at  the coding for SimCLIM so that AR4 and AR5 data can be run for comparison purposes. We also have explored the issue of under reporting with AR5 and are developing methods for management of the phenomena. In other words staff at CLIMsystems continue to innovate and are working to support our end users with the best climate data available.
