On Wednesday at 12pm, Sheng Guo, the Senior Information Technology Officer of the Climate and Ocean Monitoring and Prediction Project (COMP) Climate and Oceans Support Program in the Pacific (COSPPac) will provide an introduction to the new “Ocean Portal”, a valuable resource for any Pacific organization working with oceans and marine issues. The ocean portal is an interactive website for visualising and accessing historical ocean data (sea surface temperature, sub surface temperature, ocean currents and wave information) by scientists, marine industries and the general public.
On Thursday at 12pm in the VMGD Training Room, Philip Malsale, PSO Seasonal Forecasts and Peter Feke, Climatologist (Vanuatu Rainfall Network) will exhibit for the first time the 30-year program to establish a Community based rainfall network throughout Vanuatu to help bridge the gap between climate science and adaptation. It will highlight the success stories and the challenges faced. During the seminar, you will be informed on how you can contribute to the network or how you can benefit from information collected through this network. There will also be explanations on the types of data available in the new climate database.
