Pacific Islands GRANT for Biodiversity Information for Development (BID)
GBIF, the Global Biodiversity Information Facility, is now inviting submissions of proposals for funding from the ACP countries in the Pacific Islands for the Biodiversity Information for Development (BID) programme. The total potential funding assigned to this call is €500,000. The first recipients of funding from the BID programme are located in Africa. A total of 23 projects are now underway in sub-Saharan Africa. Please review the eligibility criteria for the call carefully, along with the list of eligible countries. Information on the call is also available in French. Types of grantsGBIF invites proposals for three broad categories of grants: 1. Regional biodiversity data mobilization grants that establish or strengthen international collaborations to increase the availability and use of biodiversity data. Selected regional projects may begin their activities in May 2017, with project activity continuing for up to 18 months and with a final six-month reporting and evaluation period (ending in April 2019). NOTE: A regional consortium must involve partners from a minimum of three different countries or overseas territories in the region, including at least two ACP countries. The consortium coordinator and at least one other partner must be located in an ACP country. Each partner can receive up to €20,000 and the consortium coordinator may receive a maximum grant of €30,000. Learn more > 2. National biodiversity data mobilization grants that establish or strengthen national biodiversity information facilities and to increase the biodiversity data available about the country to respond to national priorities. Selected national projects may begin their activities in May 2017, with project activity continuing for up to 18 months and with a final six-month reporting and evaluation period (ending in April 2019). The maximum funding available for a national grant is €60,000. Learn more > 3. Small biodiversity data mobilization grants that mobilize biodiversity data relevant for biodiversity conservation priorities Selected small projects may begin their activities in May 2017, with project activity continuing for up to one year, and with a final six-month reporting and evaluation period (ending November 2018). The maximum funding available for a small grant is €5,000.
