As we are very soon to enter our yearly cyclone season, please be advised that the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) is planning to have a final review of its Cyclone Support Plan on November 3rd, 2016. This review is mainly to give everyone a clearly picture on what your respective role is should there be any cyclone in the coming weeks or months. This review will only focus on the roles and responsibilities each organisation is to take if a cyclone happens to affect our country.
In 2015 we were taken off guard (TC Pam). Due to that, and thanks to the support of Dr Chris and GIZ, we managed to set up a RRU to help with TC Pam emergencyrelief support and relevant follow up work to date. This time around we must be prepared.
I am aware, recently a SOP (standard operating procedure) to deal with agriculture-related issues notably during/after cyclones. It will be very important that atMinistry level the Minister knows so he can brief Parliament on what measures MALFFB will take in future. The FSAC has also been meeting regularly since TC Pam.
The Vanuatu Fisheries Department along with the French National research Institute for Sustainable Development wishes to invite you, or your delegated representative(s) to the First National Workshop on Crown-of-Thorns.
