DRR/CCA Consultant

Increasing Resilience to Climate Change and Natural Hazards Project
The Vanuatu Meteorological and Geo-hazard Department (VGMD) and National Disaster Management
Office (NDMO) have secured funding for a large-scale national adaptation and disaster risk reduction
project designed to address Vanuatu’s immediate climate change adaptation needs and mitigate
natural disaster risks.
The DRR/CCA consultant will work with the PMU in the establishment of process to enhance the
coordination of DRR and CCA projects within Vanuatu.
The DRR/CCA Consultant will be contracted for 24 months and be based in the Climate Change and
Disaster Risk Reduction Project Management Unit.
An attractive remuneration package will be offered to the successful applicant.
The successful applicant will have:
Required qualifications:
 Minimum 8 years of experience in a DRR and/or CCA Advisor or experience in community based
ecosystem/environment management position or similar field in developing countries;
 Masters in Disaster Management, Climate Adaptation, community ecosystem management,
Environmental Science or related degree
 Proven ability to mentor and train staff in aspects of DRR/CCA and community based planning
and implementation;
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
 Demonstrated experience in workshop facilitation and community planning.
 Good knowledge of community development issues in Vanuatu;
 Experience working with local governments and local communities in the Pacific Region;
 Experience with Government of Vanuatu procedures
