Supervisor: Resilience Program Manager
Location: Port Vila, Vanuatu
Contract Type: Fixed – 12 months
Context:
Oxfam’s primary work in Vanuatu has two key focus areas; resilience and governance, leadership and accountability. Our work focuses on supporting civil society organisations to develop their individual and collective capacity to deliver effective programs to their communities and supports their communities to be able to better engage in decisions that affect them. Oxfam delivers its programs by working in partnership with other civil society organisations and provides a range of support including institutional strengthening, project funding and facilitating issue based networks. Oxfam also works closely with key government departments including the National Disaster Management Office and the Department of Meteorology and Geo-hazards under the Ministry of Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction. Much of Oxfam’s work involves the setting up, facilitating and administering of networks and groups of partners. Communities’ needs and priorities are central to all our work. Oxfam supports the strengthening of community voices so that they are heard and supported at relevant levels of the government.
Scope of Position
Purpose
The Community Liaison Officer is part of a multi-country Oxfam resilience program funded by the M. A. Cargill Foundation. The program supports communities and particularly women and young people, to improve their wellbeing and increase their resilience to shocks, stresses and future uncertainty resulting from disasters and climate change. This is to be achieved by building on and expanding successful disaster risk reduction (DRR), climate change adaptation (CCA) and development activities and networks.
This role will support the design and implementation of strengths based community planning processes and enabling community voices to be heard at higher levels. The successful candidate will proactively seek out innovative development tools and approaches in line with Oxfam’s resilience framework and provide support to Wan Smolbag (WSB) and Oxfam staff in planning and implementing their joint resilience programs in line with this framework.
Responsibilities
Business Services
Perform business service tasks related to the CAMEL program
Produce specific reports on Oxfam and partner activities
Provide relevant information leading up to monthly reports and other reports when required
Adhere to Oxfam policies and procedures
Provide support and feedback to the implementation and review of business service policies and procedures.
