Vanuatu work towards accessing Climate Finance Funds

A Regional Climate Change Finance Meeting was held in Nadi, Fiji bringing together Climate Change and Finance government representatives from Pacific Island Countries. The purpose of the workshop was to advance the implementation of two regional projects:1. USAID Institutional Strengthening for Pacific Island countries to Adapt to Climate Change (ISACC), 2. USAID Climate Ready and DFAT/GIZ Climate Finance Readiness in the Pacific (CFRP) projects, all aimed at institutional strengthening of pacific counties including Vanuatu, to increase access to climate change funds.

The 4-day workshop was attended by 20 participants representing eight countries; Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Palau, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.

The Vanuatu Climate Finance Roadmap was also reviewed during this workshop and support from partners to implement specific activities were secured.

Vanuatu has also engaged in the recently held Green Climate Fund (GCF) Structured Dialogue & the Global Environment Facility Fund (GEF) “Expanded Constituency Workshop” with aims to continue to further our pathway to direct climate finance access.
